
Rolf Jacob Sartorius, a boy who was born in Oklahoma was raised in Tulsa. He was brought to Virginia in search of adoption after his parents were sick and were unable or unwilling to provide care. The adoptive family raised him at home in Reston Virginia. At seven years old, Sartorius started singing in musicals. He also discovered his passion for performance. Vine is an American web-based short-form video hosting service, closed its doors in 2017. Sartorius posted lip-syncing videos on Vine which had more than 8 million followers as of August 2016. The social network he was a part of provided him with a way to escape bullying because he had been a victim. He used to say that prior to Musical.ly, he wasn't the most outgoing. He felt like no one was watching other than the camera.
